M"art"ch Madness in Full Swing

This is our second year to have our M"art"ch Madness bracket full of artwork.  This year the art for our sweet sixteen were all completed by Texas artists.  For our first round we had some really close contests with one coming down with votes at 50.3% to 49.7%!  We will vote down from our elite eight starting next week. On an even more positive note, if that were even possible, we decided to email all the artists from our brackets to let them know we were learning about them and their art works.  We have already received emails back from 7 of our 16 artists within the first day!!!  As the emails were read to all the classes, the excitement was built even higher.  We looked at a map of Texas to locate all of the towns in which the artists lived as well as looked at some of their other art. It has been a learning experience beyond any we could have imagined. The presentation the students used to vote and learn about the artists is linked below.  Feel free to learn along with our Polser students. Can't wait to see which of the Texas artworks will be the final 2016 M"art"ch Madness winner! Stay tuned.....

  1. Hi Amy. My name is Ann Hoffpauir and I received an email today from Painted Views saying that I may be one of the Artists of Texas that your class has selected for the M"art"ch Madness Presentation. I am sooo thrilled. That Red Boot was worn by a hard workin' cowboy. I was there when the cowboys rounded up cattle the be given shots and treated for insects. The cowboy was kinda short but he was standing tall in his red work boots. I think I am going to paint the young girl that was working along side her dad that day. She is 16 and stands 6 feet tall, no kidding.
My favorite western things to paint are horses. I love horses. They have such beauty and grace and make wonderful companions.
I hope you enjoyed looking at my art as much as I enjoy painting it.
    Thank you, Ann Hoffpauir

    1. Thank you so much for writing us back. The students and I were thrilled to hear back from the artists we were studying. Thank you for allowing me to share your work with my students. I’m trying to expose them to as many different artists/styles and it is always more meaningful for them when we study current, local artists. The students were very interested in hearing about the subject of your painting. Many of them said it was like they were there with you, watching the cowboys work.
      Thanks again,

  2. Hi Amy, I hope your art students have enjoyed their "travels" through the Artist of Texas artists. If you have a winner selected for the M"art"ch Maddness, could you please post it so I can show my adult art students, or email it to me at ahoffpauir26@gmail.com. Thank you, Ann

  3. We don't have a winner just yet, but are down to the final four. It takes a while to get through all of our classes to let everyone vote. We will begin voting for the Championship starting Monday!
